  1. Queen's twelfth album The Works was released in March of The band were frustrated after the poor response to Hot Space and was the album that was the start of the unnecessary downfall Queen had. With The Works, Queen made some changes/5().

Next is classic Freddie on the ballad "It's A Hard Life". This song is a masterpiece and its video was classic. We end The Works' first side with Freddie's "Man On The Prowl". It is somewhat seen as a Crazy Little Thing Called Love re-make with different lyrics but I think both songs rock. The album's second half starts with the Brian/Roger /5().

There are pop songs on The Works but by far superior to those on their previous album. The album starts with Radio Gaga, a Roger Taylor song, poppy and full of synths, but inspired and catchy, overall an enjoyable track. Tear It Up is a nice rocker, written by May. It's a Hard Life is a great Freddie Mercury number, amazing vocals IMO.

  6. May 09,  · The Works isn’t a bad album, but in terms of Queen’s career, it doesn’t match the very best of their 70s output. It’s a perfectly acceptable album from this point in their carer though and it doesn’t deserve a lot of the criticism hurled at it/5(81).

Musically, the song harks back to classic Queen rock ballads like "Play The Game" and "Save Me," and the piano parts sound strikingly similar in places to the classic first section from "Bohemian Rhapsody."The very high notes in the opening lines ("I don't want my freedom, there's no reason for living with a broken heart") proved problematic to sing live at times.
